GELEM is textile pattern design studio.
The studio provides professional textile pattern designs to various markets.
‘GELEM’ means ‘Raw material’ in Hebrew, but the name is not just a play on words. It also hints to the studio’s intention to start with raw materials and mold them to a design. GELEM Studio focuses on storytelling through textiles.
The unique prints in the studio are done in extended research around the chosen topic, guideline, color, practical use, simulations. Part of the creative process is done in painting, drawing, design development, examining a project theme, inspiration board, color choices and building a print in computer software.
The main focess of the studio is a collaboration between manual design and digital design. GELEM Textile Studio is founded by Ella Siman Tov. Originally earning her Bachelor of Textile design (printing) from Shenkar University of Ramat Gan ,Ella’s passion to materials and textures in nature is what guided her to study textiles.
Ella work in Pattern making as a freelance textile designer, storytelling, textile pattern design, patterns and repeats.
